HN031 | Small local glazed ceramic jug, 1960
Description
This small jug holds within it the memory of a journey—perhaps a brief stop in an Alsatian village, where time passes slowly and the grapes ripen in the sun. The amber-brown enamel reflects the light with a deep, warm glow, while the curlicue reliefs and baroque ornaments lend it an almost ceremonial air. The inscription "Mont Ste-Odile" reveals its origin: a souvenir of one of the region's most spiritual and historic places, Mont Saint-Odile. Ideal as a decorative piece or as a discreet marker of moments past.
